Community Capital Fund (CCF) is a Community Development nonprofit that provides grants, technical assistance, and coaching to support under-resourced neighborhoods and businesses in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area, helping to advance Asset Based Community Development and increase financial, human and social capital.
Our communities are creative and skilled in solving problems, mobilizing volunteers, building strong networks, and growing entrepreneurs and small businesses. Yet too often, a lack of access to funding sources prevents them from bringing their ideas to fruition. Since 2012, CCF has invested in innovative and measurable community development that strengthens the financial, human, and social capital of under-resourced neighborhoods in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. CCF has deployed more than $7.5 million to neighborhoods, grassroots nonprofits, and small businesses. CCF has also organized over ten Community Development Workshops that have collectively drawn more than 2,300 community leaders and fiscally sponsored numerous charitable projects.
ABOUT THE ROLE
CCF is expanding our finance team to accommodate our organizational growth. CCF is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and support our mission of driving community impact. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity through day-to-day bookkeeping, rigorous account reconciliation, and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and thrive in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial Recordkeeping: Accurately record daily financial transactions using our accounting software, ensuring that all data is up-to-date and compliant with established procedures.
2. Accounts Management: Process accounts payable and receivable, manage invoicing, and maintain an organized general ledger.
3. Reconciliation and Reporting: Reconcile bank statements monthly and prepare financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for management review.
4. Budget Assistance: Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by providing reliable financial data and analysis.
5. Compliance and Audits: Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements; collaborate with external auditors during audit periods.
6. Expense Management: Handle employee expense reimbursements with accuracy and timeliness.
7. Policy Maintenance: Update and maintain internal financial policies and procedures to promote efficiency and accountability.
8. Collaboration: Work closely with finance and fiscal sponsorship team members and other departments to support financial decision-making and strategic initiatives

Qualities we are looking for:
1. Self-Starter: CCF is a fast-moving organization that relies heavily on the professional autonomy of each team member. This new team member must be able to independently complete their work while asking/providing for assistance when needed.
2.Team-Oriented: The actions of every team member reflect the organization. CCF is looking for a team member that is committed to the mission and integrity of the organization.
3. Organization: At any moment, this new team member will be managing different programs that will certainly require time management and organization. The new team members must be able to manage their time and energy effectively to complete task while being mindful of the importance of self-care.
4. Versatility: CCF is proud to have a variety of partners from various walks of life in Kansas City. The new team member must be comfortable with communicating and working with community members from all walks of life.
SKILLSETS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
2. Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based setting.
3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulatory standards, and best practices.
4. Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
5. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Prior experience working with nonprofit organizations or community capital funds.
2. Familiarity with fiscal sponsorship models and managing donor-restricted funds.
COMPENSATION
The position’s salary range is $52,000 - $56,000, depending on qualifications, in addition to end of year bonus for performance. Compensation also includes 100% employer paid full health benefits for employees, matching retirement contributions, and three weeks of paid time off. CCF also provides Summer Hours and a flexible, hybrid work environment. Candidates must be based in, or willing to locate to, the KC Metro area.
