About Feed Northland Kids
Feed Northland Kids (FNK) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving food-insecure youth
in Clay and Platte counties, Missouri. FNK collaborates with local schools, volunteers, and
partner organizations to provide food to children and families through several initiatives —
primarily 44 in-school pantries and FNK’s Community Food Kit (CFK) program, which
provides shelf-stable items, fresh produce, protein and milk designed to feed entire families.
Founded in 2009 as an initiative of the Northland Community Foundation and incorporated as a
standalone nonprofit in 2013, FNK has become a trusted, community-rooted organization
dedicated to the well-being of children in Kansas City’s Northland. During the pandemic, FNK
dramatically expanded its reach, meeting urgent food needs for families in crisis. Today, FNK
operates with an annual budget exceeding $650,000 and is poised for continued growth and
innovation.
Position Overview
The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive officer and primary fundraiser of FNK,
responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, vision, and financial sustainability.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED provides strategic leadership, oversees operations,
manages staff and volunteers, and serves as the public face of the organization. Approximately
65–70% of the ED’s time will be dedicated to development and fundraising, with the
remainder focused on program oversight, community engagement, and organizational
management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising & Resource Development
? Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy encompassing major gifts,
corporate sponsorships, grants, annual giving, and special events.
? Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, and
corporate partners.
? Oversee grant identification, writing, and reporting.
? Cultivate a donor stewardship program to ensure ongoing engagement and retention.
? Expand and diversify revenue streams to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
2. Strategic Leadership & Vision
? Lead the ongoing implementation and evolution of FNK’s 2025 Strategic Plan in
partnership with the Board of Directors and committees.
? Identify new opportunities to expand FNK’s impact through partnerships, innovation, and
community collaboration.

? Work with staff and Board members to monitor and evaluate program outcomes to
ensure measurable impact and continuous improvement.
? Represent FNK as a leader in local food insecurity and child wellness initiatives.
3. Governance & Board Relations
? Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to ensure sound governance and effective
decision-making.
? Provide regular reports on organizational progress, finances, and key initiatives.
? Support Board development through recruitment, orientation, and engagement of new
members.
? Partner with the Board on strategic planning, fundraising, and community outreach.
4. Community Engagement & Advocacy
? Serve as FNK’s primary spokesperson, building awareness and advocacy for child food
security in Kansas City’s Northland.
? Represent FNK at community events, media engagements, and public forums.
? Strengthen relationships with schools, civic groups, religious organizations, and local
governments.
? Leverage social media, storytelling, and marketing efforts to amplify FNK’s mission.
5. Organizational Management
? Recruit, supervise, and support part-time staff, external contractors, and volunteers.
? Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven organizational culture.
? Oversee day-to-day operations, budgeting, and compliance with all regulatory
requirements.
? Ensure that financial and administrative systems (QuickBooks, Salesforce, etc.) support
transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
? Manage vendor relationships, including contracted accounting, website administration,
insurance, and technology systems.
6. Programs & Events
? In partnership with staff and Board, oversee FNK’s hunger-relief programs, ensuring
operational excellence and alignment with strategic goals.
? Plan and execute major events, including the annual Bill Cross 5K Run/Walk, FNK’s
signature fundraising event.
? Collaborate with program partners to ensure food distribution and logistics run efficiently
and equitably.
Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in nonprofit management, business, public
administration, or related field.
? Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit leadership experience, including demonstrated success
in fundraising and development. Previous experience in an executive position is a plus.
? Proven record of securing significant donations and cultivating long-term donor
relationships.
? Strong financial acumen and experience managing organizational budgets.
? Excellent communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.
? Commitment to FNK’s mission and deep understanding of community-based nonprofit
work.
? Strong, demonstrated ties within Clay and Platte Counties in the northland.

Compensation & Work Environment
? Salary Range: Commensurate with experience, anticipated range begins at
approximately $90,000. Competitive within the regional nonprofit sector.

? Work Environment: Office-based with flexibility for remote work. The role involves
regular collaboration with community partners and occasional attendance at evening or
weekend events related to organizational programs and fundraising activities
