 Title:  Stewardship and Volunteer Coordinator

Position Summary:  The Stewardship and Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening relationships with donors, supporters, and volunteers. This position is responsible for maintaining the donor database while developing and implementing stewardship strategies that deepen donor engagement and gratitude, while managing an individual and corporate volunteer program that supports the organization’s mission and goals.
 
The Children’s Place is Kansas City’s trauma treatment center, serving the mental health needs of young children since 1978.
 
Job Type: Full Time
Pay:  $50,000 - $60,000
Program: Development
 
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Vice President of Development and Communications
 
Responsibilities:
 
Donor Stewardship

  • Develop and implement stewardship plans to acknowledge, recognize, and engage donors at all giving levels.
  • Coordinate timely and personalized thank-you communications, reports, and updates.
  • Manage and implement all gift, constituent, and other data entry for Raiser's Edge.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and notes in the CRM/database.
  • Assist with donor events, tours, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Works closely with the Development and Finance teams on accounting and database reconciliation.
 
Volunteer Management
  • Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers for various programs and events.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive volunteer database.
  • Match individual and group volunteers to appropriate roles based on skills, interests, and organizational needs.
  • Schedule, supervise, and support volunteers to ensure a positive experience.
  • Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions regularly.
  • Experience working with children preferred. 
 
Communication & Coordination
  • Work with program, development, and communications teams.
  • Contribute to newsletters, social media, and web content related to donor and volunteer engagement.
  • Monitor trends and best practices in donor stewardship and volunteer management.
 
Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Competence and experience in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, as well as an advanced understanding of basic office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding records, clients, donors, and sensitive data.
  • Must be highly organized, timely, and effective in work duties, and ability to complete multiple assigned tasks within timelines with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated track record of accuracy, quality, timeliness, dependability, and reliability.
  • Experience in donor relations, volunteer coordination, or related nonprofit work
  • Must be able to speak effectively in a group setting as well as demonstrate good people and communication skills, and have a general understanding of volunteer, events, and community engagement principles.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with the Board of Directors and auxiliary boards, staff, funders, donors, and community contacts, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Must possess solid administrative skills, including editing, proofreading, punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
Certification(s) / Degree(s) Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, or related field. CRM, specifically Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, and previous volunteer experience preferred.
