Pharmacy of Grace Founders Receive Two Major Honors in One Month
Recognition celebrates their vision, leadership, and growing impact in Kansas City

It’s been a big month for Pharmacy of Grace. Founders John and Sara Yost were recognized with two major honors celebrating their commitment to expanding access to affordable medications for those who need them most.

First, the Yosts were featured on the cover of the KU Alumni magazine, which shared the inspiring story behind the founding and rapid growth of Pharmacy of Grace. The story resonates deeply within the Jayhawk community. Not only are the founders proud KU graduates, but many members of the Pharmacy of Grace team and board are KU alumni as well. The feature highlights how a vision rooted in service and health equity has grown into a thriving nonprofit pharmacy transforming lives in Kansas City.

“These honors remind us of how far we’ve come in just a few short years,” said Sara Yost. “But more importantly, they reflect the power of community and shared purpose.”

In addition, John and Sara were recognized with the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat at a Kansas City Royals game, one of the city’s most meaningful tributes to community service. Their story and the mission of Pharmacy of Grace were shared on the big screen at Kauffman Stadium, celebrating the impact the organization is making across Wyandotte County and beyond.

“It was incredibly moving to see our mission shared in such a powerful way,” said Michael Fink, Pharmacist-in-Charge and Vice President of Clinical Operations. “Our team works hard every day to make sure no one is turned away, and this recognition made us all proud to be part of something bigger than ourselves.”

More About Pharmacy of Grace

Pharmacy of Grace is a 501c(3) nonprofit in Wyandotte County, Kansas, which opened in July 2022. The pharmacy’s location near I-635 and Minnesota is an area of tremendous social and healthcare need, with 30-40% of residents uninsured and the highest number of people living in poverty in the Kansas City Metro.

The Purpose of Pharmacy of Grace, Inc. is to break the cycle of homelessness, poverty, school absentee days, and unemployment caused by unmanaged medical conditions. Many chronic medical conditions (such as hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure, asthma, COPD, bipolar, and migraines) often go unmanaged, which eventually can cause people to seek costly medical care and possible emergency hospitalization.

The Mission of Pharmacy of Grace is to improve access to prescription medication for uninsured and underinsured individuals and to increase the number of prescription medications available to vulnerable populations in Kansas.
